What is Local?
This is a question that is surely answered differently in various contexts. The Purple Porch Co-op has tried to be inclusive of the Michiana area by placing a 60 mile radius around South Bend. While this is somewhat flexible, we pride ourselves in our commitment to keeping the miles at a minimum. One of our goals is to have our producers use as little CO2-producing transportation as possible! Below is a Google Map of most of our Producers. It is a perpetual work in progress as we bring in new producers to fit the needs of our membership. But you can clearly see that they are all well within a 60 mile radius (less actually).
