About Us
A Greener Bean is a micro-roaster of certified Organic & Fair Trade coffees from all over the world. My name is Aubrea & I began roasting coffee four years ago at my retail cafe The Beanery in downtown Mishawaka. Over the years my love of fine beverages has grown to include loose leaf teas & herbs. I roast only single origin Arabica coffee, meaning my beans come from one source rather than mix-n-match blends. Unlike ‘blend’ labels that never clearly explain what kind of coffee you are purchasing our coffee will always be marked with the region or country it was grown in as well as the type of roast, & the date it was roasted on.

A Greener Bean believes in supporting & stimulating our local economy. All of our ‘green’ beans come from Theta Ridge Coffee LLC importers also located in South Bend.
Special-Teas have been uniquely blended & contain a mix of herbs that have been grown in my own garden using natural practices & no chemicals. As well as supplied by local organic food stores such as Down To Earth, The Garden Patch & Apple Valley.
Our Practices
Micro roasting is the process of roasting coffee in small batches. We have several machines that roast one pound of coffee at a time. This allows us to easily sort through the beans eliminating unfavorable beans or debris that may have been mixed into the raw dried beans. Since coffee will loose 50% of its flavor after two week all coffees are roasted to order ensuring the freshest final product. After roasting, our coffee is stored in airtight glass containers so they do not become stale & lose their wonderful flavor. Our special- teas are stored in good old fashion bell jars to keep moisture & mold out.
