About Us
Springhope Farm is a family friendly orchard in Southwest Michigan featuring sweet and juicey peaches and crisp apples. We are a “mom and pop” operation with about 20 acres of fruit trees and a couple acres of vegetables, flowers, gourds and pumpkins. We have a picnic area and offer U-pick as well as ready picked fruit in season.
Our Practices
We follow an Integrated Pest Management philosophy. Due to special challenges of maintaining a healthy tree fruit orchard in Michigan, we find it necessary to apply pesticides and fungicides; always following product labels and the Michigan State University Extension fruit management guidelines.
Highlights
We offer a dozen varieties of apples including the very popular Honeycrisp, Gala, and Jonagold varieties.
We also offer about 20 varieties of peaches including both yellow fleshed favorites such as Redhaven, Jonboy, and Loring; as well as whited fleshed varieties such as Sugar Giant and Klondike White.
Misc.
We currently sell our apples by volume measure. So, for those who are more used to weight measures; here are some approximate conversions for apples. Weights will vary depending on size of the individual apples and variety.
Half bushel is approximately 20 to 22 lbs.
Peck is about 10 to 11 lbs.
Half peck is about 5 lbs.
(PS: it takes about 6 nice sized apples to make a pie.)
