New Distribution Location!
The Purple Porch Cooperative will has its food distribution at LangLab - 1302 High St. in South Bend, IN.
Why LangLab?
This space will give the Co-op a great opportunity to grow.
- There is convenient parking for picking up food orders.
- There is room for a child-friendly area (yet to be designated) so that parents can feel free to browse and mingle.
- The Co-op will be able to have a more permanent space throughout the week. Even though we're only "open" on Wednesday evenings, we need storage space for our stuff and meeting space.
- When we have multiple distribution sites it will be beneficial to have a dedicated space to serve a hub of operations.
- One word - refrigeration. No, not yet -but this is certainly on the radar. Think of the possibilities!
- Central location.
- Parntership with a community-minded organization.

What IS LangLab?
LangLab is a Multi-Use co-workspace. The founders' aim is to enable different community-building groups to blend or at least be inspired by a “locus” of activity, while offering low rental costs for community groups and non-profits. But this office area is only 1/15th of the building! As they expand into the space they will have a venue for concerts, forums, poetry readings, film screenings, art exhibitions, debates, book signings, theater works, workshops and community gatherings. And plenty of room still for things ranging from an certified kitchen to a shared art workspace, from a recording studio to a co-op distribution center (that's US!).
